Letter Sound Drawing Mats
Research tells us that letter name knowledge is a huge predictor of future reading success. This means our students don't need to just master letters, but they need to reach automaticity. Students need multiple exposures when it comes to phonics instruction. Which is why this literacy station is the perfect way to help your students master their skills.
To prepare this resource, print the the sound mats (one for each student and one for you) After introducing the letter sound, model drawing a few pictures that begin with that sound. Ask for student input and model how to draw each image.
Some students may be able to do this independently, but direct instruction modeling each picture may be needed. Students can independently color the pictures once they are finished.
