March Themed Phonics Roll and Read
When it comes to phonics instruction, the research is very clear. Students need multiple opportunities to review skills. This means we are never "one and done" (as Wiley Blevins likes to say). We MUST pull in that cumulative review piece as often as possible. These phonics stories are a fun way to practice.
Prepare:
Print the phonics roll and read the skill you plan to work on with students.
Laminate or put in sheet protectors.
add dice and two different colors or styles of mini erasers or chips (for a pair of students to take turns)
Ask students to take turns rolling the dice, and choosing a word within that number column to say. Once they say the word they should cover it with mini erasers, chips, etc.
When they fill the board they should clear it and play again.
Phonics Skills Include:
Short a
short i
short o
short e
short u
ending ck
floss
digraphs
initial blends
final blends
r-controlled (long and short)
CVCe
Vowel Teams
Diphthongs
and MORE!
