Phonics Quick Checks (CVC)
✏️ Assessment is absolutely necessary. If we don’t assess our students, we don’t know where to start instruction.
✏️ A spelling test alone does not give us enough information.
So what assessments are necessary to get a good read on our students' decoding and phonics skills??
Oh, I thought you would never ask!!
1. Encoding/Spelling (words AND sounds)
2 Decoding in isolation (yes, pseudo words and high-frequency words too)
3. Decoding at the sentence level and within context.
Using quick checks after teaching each phonics skill, will help you as the teacher understand whether or not your students are grasping the concept.
In this bundle, you will find:
Teacher Recording Sheets
Student Sheets
Spelling Assessments
Decoding Assessments (individual, sentence, and context level)
You will find all of the above for CVC Short Vowels (a, e, i, o, u)
